I was compensated for this post

Kotona chillaillen

Päätin myös käydä moikkaamassa kummityttöäni Gretcheniä. Hän on kasvanut viime näkemältä, on jo lähes 5kk ikäinen. Pyöreät posket ja hymyilee paljon! Ihana pikku prinsessa. Rupattelimme tytön äidin kanssa niitä näitä ja vaihdoimme kuulumisia.

Ok so we went out for dinner to celebrate my mom's earth day and I still haven't uploaded my brownie recipe as of yet. I'm looking forward to getting that new camera to upload pics of my recipes.

Today I want to write about being grateful for what we have and to cherish every moment we have. Any who, I going to walk the dog and will post tomorrow. Stay safe and have a great day. We made it past the middle of the week!

Should H&M have a Fashion Week Runway Show?

This morning I was talking to one of my Favie Blogger Girlfriends, Miss Pink Julep (check out her amazing blog here) about the fact that H&M had a runway show at Paris Fashion Week, and about how Helen Hunt wore H&M to the Oscars.

Ok, so here is my take...
I want to maintain the opulence and fantasy of the Paris runway. I don't want, just because the company has mad cash and global appeal (like H&M), to see Karlie Kloss traipsing down the runway in a cheap badly made tracksuit.
I want the artisanal details that make high fashion to stay. The expert cut and seaming, the amazing fabrics and techniques, beautiful beading and construction, that is what I love.
I wear a lot of different clothes, i will go from a totally threadbare T that I bought at the Army/Navy Surplus in 1996 to a Valentino cocktail gown. There is a HUGE difference. When I put on a piece of quality clothing, it just drapes and sits in your body in such a lovely way. Someone that had passion for garments thought it up in their head. The structure of the clothing shapes your body into the best possible you. The lining makes it slip over your body like a feather-light skin. These are the things that I am in love with and the things that I do not want to go away.
I was asked, "So good fashion should only be expensive?"
No. And for that reason I am obsessed with Vintage. All the silly dresses and things that I buy at the Vintage stores are examples of the amazing attention to detail that clothing once had. And also why I especially love handmade garments, because LOVE went into them.
I don't want clothing that will split at the seams in 2 wearings going down the catwalk, glorified, just because the company has the money to do so. I want to save the Paris runway for the objets du art of fashion. The fashion that is more costume and dreams than grocery store wear.

So anyways, I looked into H&M's runway show... I found that at Stockholm Fashion Week, H&M held a contest looking for new upcoming designers. And the prize was to show the winners designs on the runway. This is cool to me, *high fives* H&M.

Here are some of the designs by the winner, Minju Kim. And although I would never wear any of these things, I do appreciate and celebrate her creativity, and applaud H&M for fostering young talent and encouraging people to keep fashion fun, unique and awesome.

Well.... What do we say. This looks like toddler gear, with an oxen-yoke worn about the neck. If you get 2 of these girls together, we can plow a field.

"Man, I'm really jealous of women with GIGANTIC arms and shoulders. I wish there were clothing to give me mad steroid-ish bulk!" Boom, there you are.

I want to dress up like someone that wanted to simultaneously be a vampire bat and hockey player for Halloween.

I'm glad she has a helmet on along with that breastplate, the world is fierce.

All I can think here is "Furry". You know, those people that dress up like stuffed animals to "Do Stuff", you know what I mean? Wow, another really flattering ensemble.

But even if I hate it, I'm glad it was made. For art's sake. You know?

Home sweet home

I flew to Finland on Tuesday since we have winter holiday now. It was the same flight as my friends took to get back home. It was my first time flying Lufthansa and I have to admit that even though there was a delay because of the snow storm in Munich I'm quite pleased with the service. The food was good I liked especially much their gouda-rucola sandwich. There were several male flight attendants who made sure that female passengers were served first and they were extremely polite in every other way also. They even apologized for the delay even if it wasn't their fault. What kind of experiences do you guys have with Lufthansa?

Tuesday was a sunny and rather warm day in Finland. It felt good to be home and since the temperature outside showed around +5C and sun I decided to take Oliver for a little walk with my mum. I missed Oliver so much and I'm so happy he came to meet me at the airport.

Monaco

Monday looked less rainy than Sunday which was pouring rain all day long. My friends Jonna and Markus arrived to Nice on Friday and Monday was going to be the day I show them around in Monaco promised land :P We started the day by walking around in Nice Old Town first before heading to Monaco. The sun was shining and it was going to be a great day.

We arrived in Monaco and took a moment to admire the beautiful view of the harbour. It was a little windy but that didn't stop us. The reflection of the sunshine in the water made it shine like a million diamonds, simply beautiful.

We strolled towards the Monte Carlo area and sat down on the terrace of the well-known Café de Paris to enjoy some drinks and pie. From the terrace you can see the entire Place du Casino with the Casino and Hotel de Paris.

From Café de Paris we continued with some shopping. I found my way to Chanel where I bought a pair of gorgeous earrings. We also took a look at the luxurious Métropole Shopping Center which is located close to the casino area. There I also bought some delicious Ladurée macarons as a souvenir to take home to my family. After the daily dose of shopping we came back to the Casino and had dinner at the Brasserie du Café de Paris, a well-known and luxurious restaurant in Monte Carlo.

This is how the restaurant is described on their website

The Brasserie du Café de Paris is the most well-known setting for "rendez-vous" in Monaco : its warm and welcome extends a promise of enjoyable moments, the decor with its "Belle Epoque" windows recalls that of old Parisian bistros, the atmosphere is glowing and gay. For a lunch break or dinner at the heart of  Monte-Carlo, on the legendary Place du Casino, you'll discover the delicious ragrances of the cuisine proposed by our great chef Jacques Lambert.

The atmosphere was so welcoming and the service excellent, you are treated almost like royalty. If you decide to dine in Monaco I definitely recommend this place. The steak was excellent and the wine selection very good also.

This is the dessert I had, I must say it was delicious. Both flavours and presentation was impeccable. My overall impression about the restaurant is very good and I will definitely return. After a fantastic dinner we headed to the Casino. It was not allowed to take any pictures but the inside was extremely glamorous and refined. I had an Apple Martini and Markus had some Macallan whiskey. We walked around and sat down by a table in the other hall and enjoyed our drinks. All and all I can say that we had a really great day and my visit to Monaco was once again very enjoyable! :)

Label Obsession - Belstaff

Oh goodness gracious, I am freaking out with Label Lust for the British Brand Belstaff. I guess they started out in the 1920s as a motorcycle-outerwear company, but now they are creating these TOTALLY RAD lady-like with an edge, structured, beautiful garments that I AM IN LOVE WITH. I just checked and the pieces are about $1,000 to $5,000 apiece. So gorgeous. You can see for yourself below and if you want to purchase (click here).

omg, I love the colors, the defined waist. and the pseudo-military/biker chic. Big hardware and zippers, be-still my heart.

Looks 1 & 2 here, omfg. Loves it. isn't this SOOOO something I would wear!?

Looooooves the stripes and the moto-jacket styling. yumm yum.

The pants I could do without, but this jacket! GIT ON MY BODY!

The look to the Left. Oh yes, drop my off on Via Veneto so I can have a shop and a espresso and leave me **forever**.

Nods to military, cafe-racing, and schoolgirls. i.e. perfection. I really want this skirt. so amaze.

Again, another great combo. I esp love the color of this jacket. Baby poop mixed with a smack of avocado. wants wants wants.

Feb 28th - Vanessa - Play Date a Go Go

a da... a da... a da da da dahhhh...

I never wear these booties. Everyone is always telling me that booties are all the rage, and that they can't live without them, I just don't like them. what is up?
I'm going for a playdate today with the kiddies. So I need something I can crawl around on the floor with and something that moves and is non constraining. Hence leggings and Vintage dress topped with Track Jacket, since I am ALWAYS cold, and yeah, it's cold outside today. uh, every day. hahha.

Jacket - Adidas (thrifted)
Dress - Vintage (gift of JC)
Leggings - Meijer
Booties - Target
