Melodifestivalen

It's only been about an hour since the 22-year old Robin Stjernberg found out he's going to be representing his country, Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2013 in his own country, in the city of Malmö to be exact. Tonight was the spectacle show Melodifestivalen final where the people of Sweden, together with carefully chosen juries from different European countries chose their representant for this year's ESC.

The show also included a surprise number by last year's winner Loreen together with sweet little school children and the iconic Carola performing her hit Främling (Stranger) we all used to listen to when we were kids. She won Melodifestivalen 1983 with this song at the age of 16 and was placed 3rd in the ESC that year. I started thinking about when I first heard the song, it was years ago. And still when I hear it it makes me happy and sing along, as did 28 000 people at the new Friends Arena in Stockholm.

I wish Robin good luck in the competition and hope Sweden makes it a wonderful show once again. Only 70 more days until the Eurovision Song Contest!
