A new year has started

Well, it's a new year. How has yours started? I've been taking it easy but been quite busy with working and more school deadlines and such. Today I also read some news that winter might be called off cause the weather hasn't been like that at all. Can you imagine? Canceling winter in Finland. In the northern parts, Lapland that is there's plenty of snow and minus degrees though, but here in the south it's like a long fall. I don't mind the "warmth" but some snow would be nice though. Then again what snow usually causes is huge parking problems in the cities and when it melts it gets all brown and wet, that's gross and not good for the shoes either. Hehe. Lapland isn't that far away, only an hour by plane so it's easy to get some winter for a while if you wanna get some. And apparently it's a big hit now since a lot of British and French tourists are visiting up there. Even some royals.

Yesterday my brothers and I were watching some old home movies from 15 years back. Gosh how the time really has flown by. Some was from our trips around that we used to do, especially at summer time. I remember back then I had an obsession with a teen show called Sweet Valley High. Anyone else? I was obsessed with reading the books too, I think I have all of them. Watching my mum's home videos made me realize how movies and television has been a big passion of mine since a kid, even more than music. I was remembering the lines back then already and it hasn't changed until this day. I still remember so many lines and scenes from movies especially and watching them with my family in particular gets them annoyed since I usually spit out the lines before the actors say them. So I dunno, maybe I am in the wrong field and should switch to the film industry, it has always intrigued me. What do you guys think? You have something you're really passionate about? Btw, the phase also included me copying the twins hair and the style of clothes they wore. Those were the days. And it's fun remembering them. 

Uusi vuosi on täällä. Miten teidän on alkanut? Itse olen ottanut iisisti, tehnyt töitä, hionut koulutehtäviä ja sen sellaista. Tänään luin myös uutisista että talvi saatetaan peruutta. Voitteko kuvitella? Talven peruutus Suomessa. Lapissa tosin on reilusti lunta ja pakkasta, mutta etelässä on aivan kuin venähtänyt syksy. Minua ei kyllä "lämpö" haittaa, mutta olisi kiva jos olisi vähän lunta. Toisaalta lumi aiheuttaa niin paljon harmia varsinkin isoissa kaupungeissa. Parkkipaikkoja uupuu, ja kun lumi sulaa niin se on likaista ja ruskeaa loskaa. Ei mukavaa kengillekään. Hehe. Lappihan on vain noin tunnin lentomatkan päässä, joten talvea kaipaaville on myös mahdollista lähteä siellä käymään. Ja näköjään siitä on tulossa trendikästä kun siellä ravaa paljon ranskalaisia ja englantilaisia turisteja. Jopa kuninkaallisia.

Eilen katsoimme veljieni kanssa kotivideoita 15 vuoden takaa. Miten aika onkaan lentänyt. Osa materiaalista oli reissuiltamme joita teimme varsinkin kesäaikaan. Muistan että niinä aikoina minulla oli pakkomielle Sweet Valley High teinisarjaan. Muistaako kukaan? Olin hulluna niihin kirjoihin myös ja minulla taitaa olla ne kaikki. Kun katselin näitä vanhoja kotivideoita tajusin miten elokuvat ja tv on ollut intohimoni jo nuoresta lähtien, jopa enemmän kuin musiikki. Muistin repliikkejä ulkoa jo silloin, eikä se todellakaan ole muuttunut. Muistan edelleen liian monta repliikkiä ja kohtausta elokuvista ja jos katson jotain varsinkin perheeni kanssa saattaa se ärsyttää heitä. Sanat tulevat suustani yleensä ennen näyttelijöitä. Joten en tiedä, ehkä olen väärällä alalla ja pitäisi siirtyä elokuva-alalle, se on aina kiehtonut minua. Mitä mieltä olette? Onko teillä jotain mikä on intohimonne? Muuten, SVH vaihe sisälsi myös kaksosten hius-ja vaatetyylin matkimista. Ne olivat aikoja. Ja niitä on hauska muistella. 

The Suspects Wore Louboutins

I recently read an article about Christian Louboutin shoes in a women's magazine and somehow I ended up watching the movie Bling Ring and all that made me write this post. Louboutins or "Loubies" for short are probably the most well-known and desired shoes in the world. The red soles are undeniably recognizable. No wonder Louboutins were chosen as the sexiest shoes in the world last year. Everyone wants a pair. It's a status symbol you could say.

So what do people do to get these shoes? That's what the movie Bling Ring (directed by Sofia Coppola) is about. A group of Valley teenagers in LA are so obsessed with celebrities and their possessions that they start robbing their favorite celebs. Their favorite target is Paris Hilton, at whose house they go "shopping" as they call it several times even. They grab a bag or a suitcase in the closet and start filling it with jewels, clothes, shoes, you name it. And usually they find a stack of money too. Especially at Paris Hilton's closet they saw tons and tons of Louboutin shoes. So why not steal a few pairs, she won't notice right? Then things got out of hand and they started robbing other celebs such as Audrina Patridge, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr, and the Bling Ring-leader's favorite celeb, Lindsay Lohan. They got caught on some surveillance tapes and together with those and some tips the police got a lead. Anyone of you seen the movie? It's based on real events. 

These kids didn't think they were doing anything wrong until they got caught and sentenced with stealing stuff altogether worth about $3 million. They always checked the address in advance and made sure the celebrity is out of town by checking news online. What makes it scary is that they just walked into these houses without anyone noticing. The fancy lifestyle and nice things was so important to them they were ready to steal the things. The movie is made based on an article from Vanity Fair called The Suspects Wore Louboutins. If you wanna read it there's a link, it's rather fascinating.  I just finished reading it myself. What's your opinion on the issue?

Luin hiljattain artikkelin Christian Louboutin kengistä eräästä naistenlehdestä, ja jotenkin päädyin katsomaan elokuvan Bling Ring ja kirjoittamaan tämän postauksen. Louboutinit tai "Loubiet" ovat varmaankin maailman tunnetuimmat ja halutuimmat kengät. Punaiset pohjat tunnistaa kieltämättä missä vain. Ei ihme että Louboutinit valittiin viime vuoden seksikkäimmiksi kengiksi. Kaikki haluavat sellaiset. Voisi sanoa että kengät ovat statussymboli. 

Mitä ihmiset sitten tekevät saadakseen tällaiset kengät? Siitä elokuva Bling Ring (ohjaaja Sofia Coppola) kertoo. Ryhmälle Valley teinejä Los Angelesista julkkikset ja heidän omaisuutensa ovat niin syvä pakkomielle, että he alkavat varastaa tavaraa lempijulkkiksiltaan. Heidän suosikkikohteensa on Paris Hilton, jonka kotona he käyvät "shoppailemassa" kuten he asiasta puhuvat, useita kertoja. He etsivät vaatekaapissa ollessaan laukun tai matkalaukun ja alkavat täyttää sitä koruilla, vaatteilla, kengillä, millä vaan. Ja usein löytyy myös tukku rahaa jostain. Varsinkin Paris Hiltonin vaatekaappi on täynnä Louboutin kenkiä, joten eihän hän varmaan huomaa jos nappaa mukaansa muutaman parin eihän? Sitten asiat riistäytyvät käsistä ja he alkavat ryöstää muita julkimoita kuten Audrina Patridge, Orlando Bloom ja Miranda Kerr, sekä Bling Ring-ryhmän "pomon" suosikki Lindsay Lohan. He jäävät kiinni turvakameralle ja yhdessä poliisin saamien vinkkien kanssa heidän kannoilleen päästään. Onko kukaan teistä nähnyt kyseistä elokuvaa? Se perustuu tositapahtumiin.

Nämä nuoret eivät uskoneet tehneensä mitään väärää ennen kuin jäivät kiinni ja heidät tuomittiin varastettuaan tavaraa yhteensä noin 3 miljoonan dollarin edestä. Ennen keikkaa he aina tarkistivat julkkiksen osoitteen netistä ja seurasivat viihdeuutisia selvittääkseen koska he ovat poissa kaupungista. Pelottavaa tästä tekee sen että he vain kävelivät sisään näihin taloihin ilman että kukaan huomasi. Elokuva perustuu Vanity Fair-artikkeliin The Suspects Wore Louboutins. Oh Christmas Tree

Some of you might know how much I love Christmas. Not the commercial part with buying all useless things you call gifts but the spirit of Christmas, the ambiance and being together with loved ones. Unfortunately recently Christmas has become very commercial and it feels like all kids care about is how many presents they have under the Christmas tree. Over the years I've learned to appreciate the most meaningful thing about Christmas the most; being together with my family. You never know what happens in life which is why you should cherish those moments spent together. 

All this comes to my post today. As I spend Christmas with my family then I always want the Christmas feel in my apartment early. So I just finished decorating my Christmas tree this week. Crazy? Not as it has been sometime when I've even trimmed the tree in October. What can I say, I love the holidays. Each time I get the decorations is also the first time listening to some carols, it gives it that extra meaning and more Christmas feel. 

Jotkut teistä saattavat tietää kuinka rakastan joulua. En sitä kaupallista puolta kun ostetaan läjäpäin turhia lahjoja vaan joulun henkeä, tunnelmaa ja rakkaiden kanssa yhdessäoloa. Valitettavasti viime aikoina joulusta on tullut erittäin kaupallinen ja tuntuu että ainoa asia mistä lapset välittävät on lahjojen määrä kuusen alla. Vuosien saatossa olen oppinut arvostamaan joulun tärkeintä asiaa eli perheen kanssa yhdessäoloa. Koskaan ei voi tietää mitä elämässä tapahtuu joten yhdessä vietettyjä hetkiä tulisi vaalia. 

Kaikki tämä liittyy tämän päivän postaukseen. Koska vietän joulun aina perheeni kanssa haluan joulutunnelmaa omaan asuntooni ajoissa. Sain siis joulukuusen koristeltua tällä viikolla. Hullua? Ei niin kuin joskus aiemmin jolloin olen koristellut kuusen jo lokakuussa. Mitä tuohon voi sanoa, rakastan joulunaikaa. Kun koristelen kuusen kuuntelen myös ensimmäistä kertaa joululauluja, siitä saa vähän lisätarkoitusta ja enemmän joulufiilistä. 

Each one of the decorations I have is special. I still have the same tree I bought when I moved out from my parents' place. It's small cause I don't need a bigger one and it's easier to handle also. My color theme is gold and white with some feathers and I like to keep it like that and not mix too much, it's the way I like it. In the pictures you see some of my favorite decorations and I pack them well so they will stay good for years. If I see something nice and special I buy it as an addition to my tree. Even though I do love Christmas I couldn't possible eat the food yet. Some people do but I feel like if I start now the word Christmas dinner loses the meaning. And it really is just too much. 

Jokainen koriste on tärkeä ja erikoinen. Minulla on edelleen sama kuusi jonka ostin kun muutin vanhemmilta omilleni. Se on pieni koska en tarvitse suurempaa ja sitä on helpompi käsitellä. Väriteemani on kulta-valkoinen ripauksella sulkia.  Haluan pitää sen sellaisena enkä sekoitella liikaa. Kuvissa näette muutamia lempikoristeitani, ja pidän huolta että aina pakkaan ne hyvin että ne säilyvät hyvinä vuosia. Jos näen jotain kivaa ja erikoista ostan sen lisänä kuuseeni. Vaikka rakastan joulua en voisi kuvitella syöväni jouluruokaa vielä. Jotkut tekevät sitä, mutta minun mielestäni jouluateria menettää merkityksensä jos syö liikaa ennen joulua. Ja onhan se aika raskasta.

The best dad in the world

Our Father's Day is each year very much the same; dad is working as he always is. I remember growing up us kids got up early in the morning, me in the lead as the oldest, to prepare him breakfast in bed and all the gifts and cards we'd made at school. The past few years have been different from that then. 

My dad is the most hard-working person I've ever known. And I really mean that. It's not just me but the entire family, relatives and friends see how much he works and never complains and it feels like he should be able to get a better reward for his work. I guess when you love something so much you would do it even for free. He hasn't had a holiday in 10 years and I can't remember the last time he would've had a day off completely(yes, not even at Christmas).

Our relationship is very business like and he rarely calls me just to say hello. He never praises too much, and he always expects more than you think. He is demanding but understanding, never gives up and is confident in whatever he does. I'm so glad he has demanded so much from us kids too, showing us that you need to work hard to achieve things in life. And if you want something you gotta work for it and then you can buy it and enjoy it. Everything I invest in I enjoy to the fullest since I know I've worked really hard and I've earned it.

Our Father's Day celebration included visiting grandfather and seeing some cousins and everyone who was there. I also spent a few hours at work today. We usually gather there each mother's and father's day, but since grandma's passing on Mother's Day last year things changed and we only have one celebration. On the contrary with my grandparents from my father's side we still have grandma and of course we pay her a visit on Mother's Day, no Father's Day there anymore though.

Meidän isänpäivä on vuosittain samanlainen; isä on töissä kuten aina muutenkin. Muistan kun nuorempana me lapset nousimme aikaisin ylös, minä vanhimpana joukkoa johtamassa, ja valmistimme isälle aamiaisen sänkyyn ja veimme lahjat ja kortit jotka olimme tehneet koulussa. Viime vuodet ovat siis olleet hieman erilaisia. 

Isäni on ahkerin ihminen jonka tiedän ja todella tarkoitan sitä. Koko perhe, sukulaiset ja ystävät ovat huomanneet kuinka paljon hän tekee töitä eikä ikinä valita, ja tuntuu siltä että hänen pitäisi saada parempi palkinto kovasta työstään. Kai se on niin että kun rakastaa tehdä jotain noinkin paljon sitä voisi tehdä jopa ilmaiseksi. Hän ei ole pitänyt lomaa kymmeneen vuoteen enkä edes muista päivää jolloin hän olisi ollut kokonaan täysin vapaalla (ei edes jouluna).

Suhteemme on erittäin työntäyteinen ja isä soittaa vain harvoin kysyäkseen kuulumisia. Hän ei ikinä kehu liikaa ja odottaa aina enemmän kuin mitä luuleet. Hän on vaativa mutta ymmärtäväinen, ei ikinä luovuta ja on varma siitä mitä ikinä tekeekin. Olen kuitenkin iloinen että hän on vaatinut meiltä lapsilta niin paljon, ja näyttänyt että saavuttaakseen jotain elämässä pitää tehdä kovasti töitä. Jos haluaa jotain pitää olla ahkera ja sitten kun esimerkiksi ostat haluamasi voit todellakin nauttia siitä. Nautin kaikesta johon sijoitan täysin rinnoin koska tiedän että olen tehnyt töitä sen eteen ja ansaitsen sen. 

Isänpäivän juhlintaamme kuului vierailu papan luona jossa näin myös serkkuja ja muita. Vietin itse myös muutaman tunnin töissä tänään. Kokoonnumme yleensä sinne äitienpäivänä ja isänpäivänä, mutta mamman poismenon jälkeen äitienpäivänä viime vuonna asiat muuttuivat. Päinvastoin isäni vanhemmilla tulee käytyä äitienpäivänä mummia katsomassa, vaikka ukkia ei enää ole. 

Toivottavasti teillä kaikilla oli ihana isänpäivä ja muistakaa yhdessäolon merkitys, koskaan kun ei tiedä mitä elämässä tapahtuu!

Peep dress

This is the season for celebration. It's almost Christmas so who wouldn't like to dress up and go out and forget about the terrible weather outside. I found the cutest dress today, Peep dress by Vila. I bought it for a specific purpose. I'm not gonna tell you more about it yet, since it's a bit unsure so I don't wanna jinx it but there might be a little surprise coming up. I like the dress cause well it's black and the sequins add a nice little detail. And it matches nicely the shoes. You can find the dress at Bubbleroom here.

Tämä on juhlan aikaa. On melkein joulu ja kukapa ei haluaisi laittautua ja lähteä juhlimaan ja unohtaa kamalan sään hetkeksi. Löysin ihanan mekon tänään, Vilan Peep mekko. Ostin sen itse asiassa  tiettyä tarkoitusta varten. En paljasta vielä enempää, sillä asiat ovat vielä hieman epävarmoja enkä halua huonoa onnea asian suhteen ennen kuin kaikki on selvää, mutta pieni yllätys on tulossa jos kaikki selviää. Pidän mekosta koska se on musta (aivan kuin niitä ei olisi tarpeeksi) ja paljetit ovat kiva pieni yksityiskohta. Ja se sopii aika hyvin kenkien kanssa yhteen. My week and outfit 25.09.13

One week over once more. It's been hectic I must say. I stopped by at home for a few days also to work, and well, tried to study while at it. The week has involved a lot of school work, work and working out, but I've also tried to get some me-time by getting a massage that my muscles really needed. The weather suddenly got really cold so running outside doesn't sound so much fun anymore, but as they've promised now the fall should be warmer after all so maybe I will get to run after all. Do you guys like running throughout the winter? I tend to like comfortable and running outside when snowing for example doesn't sound so tempting so I take the working out inside. This week I've also gone to a couple of BodyPump classes, that I haven't done in like a month but it was different and fun, and today I went back to another love of mine, BodyCombat and I feel great.

So this weekend sure hasn't been lazy even if I was so exhausted after my exam on Saturday (only slept for two hours before that). I spent parts of the day just sleeping. I had planned to hit the gym a bit later in the day after lunch and a little nap but as I was chatting with my friend I realized that the class was starting in 10min so what to do? A very quick wardrobe change, grabbing the shoes and the water bottle and running to the gym. Well it was a nice warm-up. I also took a look at a new Finnish show called Dancing On Ice, which intrigues me since I used to compete in figure skating (singles though). Of course after all this time jumps scare me a bit but doing basic stuff have not gone forgotten. For many people even skating backwards might seem hard. My dream has been to be able to skate up high in Paris at the Eiffel Tower and in New York Central Park at Christmas. What do you guys like for winter sports? 

Taas on yksi viikko takana. On ollut aika menevää täytyy sanoa. Tuli käytyä myös kotona muutama päivä ja töitä tehden ja no, yritin samalla opiskella myös. Viikko on sisältänyt paljon koulutöitä, töitä ja treenaamista, mutta olen myös onnistunut löytämään aikaa itselleni käymällä esimerkiksi hierojalla, lihakseni olivat todella sen tarpeessa. Sää muuttui äkillisesti erittäin kylmäksi joten ulkona juokseminen ei kuulosta niin hauskalta enää, mutta lehdessä luvattiin että syksystä tulisi lämpimämpi joten ehkä pääsen kuitenkin juoksemaan. Tykkäättekö te juosta läpi talven? Olen itse yleensä niin mukavuudenhaluinen ja ulkona juokseminen lumisateessa esimerkiksi ei kuulosta järin houkuttelevalta, joten vien treenit sisätiloihin. Tällä viikolla olen myös käynyt parilla BodyPump tunnilla, viime kerrasta onkin jo kuukausi aikaa. Se oli kuitenkin erilaista ja hauskaa, ja tänään palasin toisen rakkauteni luo, olin nimittäin BodyCombat tunnilla ja olo on mitä mahtavin.

Tämä viikonloppu ei siis todellakaan ole ollut laiska vaikka tentin jälkeen olinkin uupunut lauantaina (nukuin ennen tenttiä vain kaksi tuntia). Osa päivästä kului nukkuen. Olin suunnitellut suuntaavani salille hieman myöhemmin lounaan ja pienten unien jälkeen, mutta jutellessani ystävän kanssa huomasin että tunti alkaakin jo 10min kuluttua, joten mikä avuksi? Erittäin nopea vaatteiden vaihto, kengät ja juomapullo käteen ja pikaspurtti salille. Toimi hyvänä lämmittelynä. Katsastin myös uuden kotimaisen viihdeohjelman Dancing On Ice. Se kiehtoo minua sillä olen joskus kilpaillut taitoluistelussa (yksin tosin). Tietenkin kaiken tämän jälkeen hypyt pelottavat hieman, mutta perusjutut ovat vielä muistissa. Monille jopa takaperin luistelu tuottaa päänvaivaa. Toiveeni on ollut jo pitkään päästä luistelemaan korkealle Pariisin Eiffel-torniin sekä New Yorkin Central Parkiin jouluna. The first week of school is officially over and I already feel exhausted. So much new information and so many deadlines, I'm not quite sure how I'm gonna handle it all. Only time will tell and hopefully I will get everything done but if not, then see you next fall. Now it's Friday and time to enjoy the weekend with some drinks with the girls and seeing all my friends at an annual "Back to school" party for all the Swedish-speaking young adults. Here's today's outfit.

Ensimmäinen kouluviikko takana ja olen jo ihan uupunut. Niin paljon uutta tietoa ja useita deadlineja, tällä hetkellä on sellainen fiilis että miten ihmeessä tulen tästä kaikesta selviämään. Vain aika näyttää ja toivottavasti saan kaikki hoidettua mutta jos ei, niin nähdään ensi syksynä. Nyt on onneksi perjantai ja aika nauttia viikonlopusta tyttöjen kanssa drinkkien merkeissä ja kesän päättävässä/syksyn aloittavissa suomenruotsalaisille suunnatuissa bileissä. Tässä päivän asua.

As you might've noticed I've been trying to renew and update my blog a bit. It's a Girl!

A bit over a week ago my cousin had a baby, a beautiful baby girl. We went to visit them at the hospital a few days later but this weekend we made a proper visit to their house. She looked so cute and calm and didn't seem to mind at all being passed from one lap to another, just sleeping and enjoying. My cousin loves to decorate and I was really admiring her home too.

Reilu viikko sitten serkkuni sai lapsen, ihanan tyttövauvan. Kävimme sairaalassa heitä katsomassa muutama päivä synnytyksen jälkeen, mutta tänä viikonloppuna kävimme kunnolla kylässä heidän kotonaan. Tyttö näytti niin söpöltä ja rauhalliselta eikä häntä tuntunut haittaavan sylistä toiseen siirtyminen. Hän vain nukkui ja nautti olostaan. Serkkuni rakastaa sisustamista ja ihailimme myös samalla hänen kotiaan.

Marry Me Baby

Last Saturday Finland finally chose its contestant for the Eurovision Song Contest through Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu (New Music Competition). The finals are being held May 18 in our neighbour country Sweden. I think it is unfair since Sweden already has the main responsibility of the 2013 Ice Hockey World Championships (together with Finland) and now they have this too.

The song the Finnish people chose to represent our country is called Marry Me by Krista Siegfrieds. She's a 27-year old young lady with amazing talent. She wrote this song as a hint to her boyfriend she's been dating for 8 years to finally propose and he promised to do so if she makes it to ESC. Looking forward to seeing what's gonna happen. Anyway the song has gotten a lot of critic, of which a lot has been negative. The Swedish media is concerned about if this is an example you want to set to young women about marriage and love. I totally agree with Krista's opinion on this, she's her own strong personality who does not care what other people think. She knows modern women do not have to follow age old patterns. When asked about how she feels she had said "it's not my problem if people don't have sense of humour".No wonder she admires Lady Gaga, she really was born this way and proud of it, GO Krista! :) What do you think about the song?
