Why I'm Super Glad Nicolas Ghesquiere is taking over at Louis Vuitton

Oh Nicolas is just so delicious, isn't he?

He just looks like the perfect French boy that you see at a cafe reading Dostoevsky over a glass of wine, sitting by himself in Paris.

Plus, he's BFFs with Charlotte Gainsbourg (they're doing a little light sabering)

He's just so cool and talented and good looking, plus he made magic at Balenciaga. Here's some good examples of his amazing works, to get you amped to see what he'll do at Vuitton...

1. Unique Shapes and Unique Materials
I love the gorgeous, flattering bell skirt and sleeve on this dress. The stitching and silhouette almost seem medieval, but the length and the boots brought it into the future. I love this, I would wear it every day, screw you Jennifer Connelly.

2. This crop-top that everyone wore last year.
It's a very beautiful simple idea, just a small top that lifts the girls and reveals just a *smack* of midsection. Everyone loved it. I think about 10 celebs wore this including Kristin & Gwyneth...

Looks better on Gwynnie....

3. These ruffles, that were so glamourous and fluttery... As on Anna Dello Russo
I just thought these ruffles, that were shown on skirts and tops and dresses were so musical and artistic. They had such movement, and I thought it was such a neat idea, because they weren't prissy or "sweet" they were just dripping with elegance.

4. Rock n Roll
These are rock n roll clothes that don't look like a cliche, that actual rock n roll people would want to wear.

5. And OH MY GAWD THE SHOES he designed....
These are not just shoes!! These are ALL SCULPTURE!! The booties above are just perfection. I love the architectural influences, the deft leopard print, the color blocking, ALL AWESOME.
AND THESE!! All of these boots are amazing. Almost like a Peruvian influence in them, the beading and the textures. Everything is beautiful.

I can't wait to see what you do, you magnificent piece of man-meat.
