AMA 2013 Fashion

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend. So lets get right into it. Who wore what at the AMA and who wore it best. Lets start with  Jordan Sparks shall we?

She's amongst one of the tallest women in the biz. At 6'0 tall and with her dramatic weight loss Jordan Sparks looked lovely in the gold beaded halter top with what appears to be a velvet material dress. I love her fresh face and youthful approach to make-up. Well done.

Zendaya. What a beautiful name and its fitting for this young lady as she scrolled the red carpet in a sexy but classy all white off the shoulder ensemble. The look was accessorized with bangles a clutch and seriously straight hair with a center part. A goddess indeed!

Probably one of may favorite looks of the night. Who doesn't love Kelly Osborne's style as its so authentic and eclectic. She rocked purple hair with a silvery Alice in wonderland checkerboard 60s inspired gown. This was just fun and that's what the AMA's are about.

The Jenner sisters looked hot!

Looks like Rihanna received more attention for sporting a doobie wrap than receiving The Icon award. Rih rih sure knows how to get tongues talking!!

Female Celebrity Style: Kota Wade

Wade is serving up Fairy Queen in this ensemble. I love the goddess floral crown and corset.

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend. I'm very excited to profile up & coming new artist Kota Wade. Wade is the lead singer of Bad Wolf. Moreover, some of you maybe familiar with her wildly popular YouTube channel SteamFaerie TV which in addition to featuring the lead singers  band the channel also highlights her craftiness.

Can you believe this is a recycled thrift wedding gown  Kota made for her band Bad Wolfs new video? This was  a diy project that involved dye and spray paint. She also made the chandelier in the background!!

Wade is a chameleon, she's also a member of Jc Chasez's  band Girl Radical. What I admire most about Wade is that besides having an angelic voice she's genuinely creative. She  designs not only her own cloths but the bands as well!! Check out the recent wardrobe tutorial she did with her band for the latest music video Drowning Beautiful . Kota Wade's animated harajuku fairy style is her own but she's makes awesome diy videos that demonstrate even if your on a tight budget a little creativity can create one of a kind looks. Now that's what I call true haute contour Kota!

Wade has described her style as "steam punk-fairy".  I love this animated effect that I'm getting from both pics. Its reminds me of harajuku fashion.

Female Celebrity Style: Celia Cruz

                                       '
As Celia would say "My English not very good."

Happy Monday!

I was presently surprised to find that google is honoring the late salsa singer Celia Cruz. She is problay most known for her most famous song Azucar Negra (black sugar). Aside from her dazzling personality and voice when I think of Celia,  the Cuban diva signature elaborate customs stand out to the most. Take a look for yourselves.

Celia was know for her  signature head pieces. In many ways her style reminded me of the r&b group LaBelle.

Shine Bright Like A Diamond...

Happy Tuesday!!

Ladies I hope you're enjoying the blog. What I want to discuss in this post is what I do here and why I've decided to take the blog in this direction. As you know I love to cover fashion and particularly women in the public eye. From actresses, singers and even first ladies. Some of you may think, well why them? Simply, I feel that women who have high profile careers are the epitome of success and we should pay close attention. These women are great examples of what success can mean when your a female.

From Julia Roberts, Jennifer Lopez, Beyonce, Lucy Lu and an endless list of others. There's no denying these women are on the top of their game professionally. Even more, they take meticulous care of themselves by ensuring they have access to the best trainers, stylist and of course cloths. In many ways they personify what a living goddess would be like....

The best part is is they all come in different flavors. Who doesn't love the beauty of Jennifer Aniston's toned arms or Beyonce's curvy body? I feel that female entertainers exude this inner radiance  that many women should apply to our own lives. They know they are the best and know they deserve to have the best. Sadly, I believe many women don't apply this principal to our own lives. I see too many young girls and older women who simply settle because they lack confidence and self value.

My goal with this blog is to let you know your beautiful on the inside and out. When I sign off with "beauty is a lifestyle" its about overall wellness that radiates  within. I leave on this note, ladies take care of yourself, know your value and don't allow anyone to devalue you. That's it for this post. Have a beautiful day!!

Ciara's VMA Fashion & Focaccia with Caramelized Onion Tomato & Rosemary Pizza

Happy Friday!

Today is going to be a very relaxed fashiony and foody post. R&B singer Ciara gave an exclusive to ell.com about her prep time before the VMA's. Ciara is one of the most beautiful singers to hit the scene. Her completion is flawless and I love her high cheek  bones and almond shape eyes. She wore a beautiful sheer Givenchy sequin gown to the awards show and with a 5'10 frame she can get away with anything. Looks like Jessica Biel wasn't the only one with the sheer look. Click on the link  for the article and low down on Ciara's fashion and beauty routine!!

Hey who doesn't love pizza? In my opion pizza is the perfect food to en your week with this Focaccia with Caramelized Onion, Tomato & Rosemary was posted on Cookcanuck.com.

Focaccia with Caramelized Onions, Tomatoes & Rosemary Recipe

Prep Time: 2 hours, 20 minutes

Cook Time: 20 minutes

Total Time: 2 hours, 40 minutes

Yield: Serves 8

Serving Size: 1 piece

Instructions:
In a medium bowl, stir together yeast, warm water, and honey. Let rest until yeast blooms and bubbles form on top, about 10 minutes.
Stir in flour, 1/4 cup olive oil and 1 teaspoon kosher salt. Turn the dough onto a well-floured surface and knead until dough is smooth, 5 to 10 minutes.
Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let rest in a warm place until dough doubles in size, about 1 hour.
Preheat oven to 450 degrees F.
Remove dough from bowl and press it into a lightly oiled 9- by 13-inch baking sheet until it touches the edges. Using your finger, poke holes all over the dough. Drizzle the dough with 2 tablespoons olive oil. Let rest until the dough becomes puffy, about 20 minutes.

Top the dough with tomato slices, caramelized onions, rosemary, Parmesan cheese, and salt. Drizzle with remaining 2 tablespoons olive oil.
Bake until the focaccia is golden brown, about 20 minutes. Remove from oven and allow to cool on a rack. Cut into pieces and serve.

Making pizza by hand is so rewarding and great to do with kids and friends. Enjoy your weekend!

National Dog Day & Jessica Biels Revealing VMA After Party Dress

Happy Tuesday!

Today is National Dog Day!!.National Dog Day was started in 2004. For all us pet lovers and dog owners this is a day to spread national awareness to the overcrowding animal shelters and our furry friends who need good homes. In case you missed an old post I did about dreams boards, my mother and I wanted to adopt a dog named Fufu. Making a long story short we put in an application for Fufu when we discovered the apartment were lived doesn't accept pets. I was disappointed. I made a dream aboard after I watched Oprah and I put a dog on there that resembled Fufu. One year later we adopted Harley our shih poo. So if you live in dc, head to the Washington Humane Society or PetFinder.com, if your interested in adopting.

                                               jessica biel
Meanwhile over in fashion news Jessica Biel showed in a see through lace dress to meet her husband Justin Timberlake at the VMA's after party held in NYC. I actually don't think she's revealing much. What do you think? Have a great day!!

VMA's 2013

Happy Monday!

The annual MTV's Video Music Awards was held over the weekend. Did you watch? Aside from the usual over the top performances and antics, lets take a look at the fashion choices many our favorite celebrities decided to rock.

Selena Gomez Leaves Little to the Imagination at the VMAs
Selena Gomez is really going up. I love her hair, the red lips and her sexy Madonna-ish  lace bra look. I think its interesting. I'll be watching you Ms. Gomez!

For a second I thought she was Charlize Theron or a super model but it Taylor Swift. The songstress looked amazing in the body hugging ensemble. Love it!!

When I grow up I want to be Paula Patton! I love this woman. I'm one of those people where I image that I'm friends with certain celebrities in my head and in my head Paula Patton is a super cool chic to hang out with. She's in shape and has a beautifully toned body. Oh how I wish y'all.  Did he guys get  a glimpse of her in Robin Thicke's Love After War video? Mama just had a baby and was looking hella good. I love this sparkling number she wore to the VMA's. You better werk!

Blued eyed soul singer Robin Thicke perform with Miley Cyrus on stage, In this pic we see the two bumping and grinding while Miley is so preoccupied with twerking. LMAO! Its is me or was Robin Thicke channeling Bettlejuice in this outfit? lol.

Katy Perry showed up in her famous sex kitten leopard print ensembles. I guess her alter ego loves the sex kitten look.

Of course I'm not scratching the tip of the ice burge when it comes to VMA fashion. What do you think? What your favorites fashion moments? Have a wonderful day!!

Hair Trends of 2013

Good Morning & Happy Monday!!

As always I want to start off by saying I wish everyone had a safe and relaxing weekend. This post I wanted to discuss hair trends that we saw this past spring of 2013. There were many different looks on the runway and of course some of our most famous female celebrities rocked these looks off the runway. One event event were the trends were straight on point was the Met Gala.  However, all in all the style that we saw were simple and something that even the everyday woman can do. So lets get to it.

How appropiate for the rock and roll theme meta gla. Mrs. Carter rocked beautiful golden waves to the 2013 met gala.

Rock n Roll Waves

Waves were done well on the runway with just enough softness of the curl that makes this style soft and romantic. This would be great for any brides or bridesmaids out there who wish to look soft and romantic on that special day.

Be sensible withyour hair accessories and chose a lovely scraf to wrap your do. Here we see Sieanna Miller with her spikey rocker version of accessories  while the pic next is an example of the scraf can be rocked.

Accessories

We saw the models parading done the runways over sized accessories such as fabric flowers, plastic hair pieces and what even appeared to be a lantern used in the Alexander McQueen show. As an  alternative scarfs were practical and beautifully done. Check out of selection of  kashmir Tepper Jackson scarfs to get the look.

Minka Kelly wore  beautiful messy updo for the 2013 met gala.

Undone Up dos

Messy up dos were spotted on the runway this season. I believe the term "casual coolness" has been coined to describe this look. Designers like Valentino and Vera Wang had models strolling down the runway with this look.

Inaddition to rocking a noise ring Jessica Biel had beautiful sleek shiney hair.

Slick Hair
Get out your hair gel because the wet hair look came this time around minus the drenched from the sea look which was perfected and taken down a noch.  This season glossy goddess like waves grace the runways.

Low Pony Tail
The modern take on the pony tail envoled positioning flat ironed hair beneath the nape that really displayed the length of long tresses. Different hair bands and ribbons used to hold the low pony tail in place.

Jessica Alba with beautifully braided updo french bun hair do.

Braid Neat
Messy braids that are beautifully sculptured are always cute. We saw not only classic messy french braids row braids were also worn.

Actress Diane Kruger rocked the knot/low pony tail with pink ends at the met gala awards.

The Knot
Low chignons are very chic and timeless simple to do it's just a simple blow dry hair with a center part. The hair is then secured into a neat ponytail. A little hair mist later just spray the hair with shine mist like Chaacoca's Argan Oil Shine Finising  Hair Mist and style the hair in looped ends pointed or tucked under, round ballet bun or go for the classic double knot.

Female Celebrity Style: Kim Cameron

Kim Cameron is a woman who can't live with her black eyeliner which is a staple in her morning routine.

Kim Cameron is the spunky lead singer of Side FX. The glam diva once had her own fashion column for the Washington DC Examiner but what has me buzzing today is her female celebrity style.

Once I saw a pic of Cameron I immediately thought, "Stevie Nicks". Upon more research I discovered that not only is the legendary Stevie Nicks Cameron's inspiration but her style is synchronized with the classic elegance of Carole Lombard. Cameron is a huge fan of Lombard and considers her a beauty icon.

In this pic Kim is serving us urban chic and Parisian romance. What a laid back approach to style thats youthful and whimsical.

Cameron style has been describe as urban chic and Parisian romance. She's know for her accessories and loves jewelry to glam up her look before hitting the stage. However, before her look is completed she adds  glitter which makes sets the fashion tone for  magical and fun. Cameron is putting her own twist on how style and fashion is defined and you've gotta respect that.

Female Celebrity Style: Jody Watley

Happy Friday!!

I just so happen to watch Fox 5 news this morning and the legendary Jody Watley was being interviewed. My mother called me to watch this because she knows I'm a huge fan of Ms. Watley. I started thinking about how Jody Watley is such an fashion icon and how her style remains relevant today as many artist are influenced by her.

Jody Waltey is 6'0 tall and she wears it well. What a beautiful pic of her.Its very etheral even.

Some of you may not know but Jody Watley began her career as a professional dancer and landed a spot in the t.v show Soul Train. From there she was chosen to be apart of a new r&b group called Shalamar. You guys they were big!! My mom and first cousins would blast hits like For the Lover In You, which is personally my favorite. From there Watley decide to go solo and reinvented her image. She was know as the black madonna because of her racy leather corsets combined with tulle skirts and jeans, big leather jackets and bold hair accessories. Watley was also know for rocking black eyeliner and serious cat eyes with red lipstick. She managed to mix high fashion with urban influence. Watch some of her old videos to get an idea of how Watley made her own fashion statement that helped to define the 80s and 90s. Have a great weekend!

Female Celebrity Style: Deja Mae

Deja Mae is a multi talented up and coming singer, songwriter and actress/model. The red haired  beauty is setting her sights high as she recently released her debut album titled Through the Half Dark and wrapped up a cover shot with Vogue and Tarina Tarantino. Moreover, the effortless style of  Mae has us wanting to highlight her relaxed approach to fashion.

There's something so majestic about black and white photos and here we see Mae showing off her very long legs in this kinda halter jump suit with a belt and minimum jewelry, a ring on one finger and a plugging necklace. I personally love this and would want to wear it. I can also see young girls wanting to get this look.

Mae's style has been define as simple with  well tailored clothes and a retro look. She's loves vintage items and is know for mixing skinny jeans with a vintage top. My kind of gal. Mae is also a lover of accessories and turquoise rings.

I adore this pin up princess Jessica Rabbit look Mae is giving right here. Again its very cute and I love those sparkling hot pants with the vintage red pumps. I love this.

I love when simplicity is used to make a fashion statement because simple can be bold and daring when over the  top can be contrived at times. Mae's pin up princess style is where retro intercedes with simplicity.
